The
Hudson family – John and Troy
John
Troy
John
Hudson was born
and spent the early years of his life in the state of Tennessee.
He and his
family moved to Ocala, Florida 35 years ago
where they started H H Hudson Horse Transport. John has been
in the horse business for most of his life, in Tennessee and then
Florida. He practiced equine dentistry for many
years, until going full time in the horse business.
He started roping over 30 years ago after
building an arena on the farm. Roping has become his passion!
John began training horses for the general public, friends and other
roping
buddies and this soon led to buying and selling rope horses. He is currently not training any outside horses, so that he
can focus on
buying and selling. He travels extensively to look for the best rope horses that are
available. Over the years, John has bought and
sold
many quality rope horses and he stands behind every horse he sells. He keeps between 20 and 30 horses for sale at all
times.
You will not see prices for his horses on his website, as John
feels this
is a private matter between the buyer and the seller, not everyone in
cyber
space or in a client’s neighborhood.
John is a highly rated header and heeler and he
regularly competes at
USTRC and NTRL competitions, jackpots and at local rodeos. He has competed at almost every major
team roping event in the southeast. He also gives roping lessons and he has a lighted arena on the farm
and ropes
everyday, weather permitting. John produces two major ropings each year, in
April and
August. These are held locally at the Southeast Livestock Pavilion in
Ocala. He also produces several roping competitions from
October to March that are held
at the
family owned farm in Ocala.
Troy has been roping competitively
since he was 9 years old, when he won the Team roping event at the
Florida
Junior Rodeo championship with Brandon Rice.
In 2006, he won the Florida High
School Rodeo state
championship in calf roping.
In 2007, Troy and his
partner Joshua Torres
won the Florida High School Rodeo team roping event, taking them to
National
High School Rodeo Finals in Springfield, IL. At these rodeo finals in Springfield Troy and
Joshua won the National
Championship in team roping. Troy is currently practicing Equine dentistry and jackpoting.
